Thank you to all the families that came out to support Central's Thanksgiving Family Engagement Luncheon last week! It was so fun to see so many families enjoying a wonderful Thanksgiving Lunch prepared by the Central Staff! #WeAre409 #thankful

Students from USD 409 were selected to go to Wichita to participate in the Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB) first District Showcase of Student Work. USD 409 had two proposals selected, one from Central School and one from Atchison High School! Sarah Beckes and Jasmine Nelson represented Central School, and AHS was represented by Frances Knudsen, Anna Lowe, Emily Fuhrman, Marisol Carroll, Elinor Steinbach, and Jadyn Boldrige. Central talked about the new elective program they started last year, and AHS spoke about the new English offerings that were put in place last year as well! These high school students did a wonderful job sharing the great things happening in USD 409 schools, and we are so proud of their leadership! #WeAre409

Today kicks off Apply KS! The enrollment fees for Ks colleges have been waived and student are encouraged to apply this week! If you have questions please don't hesitate to the counselors at AHS or Ms. Hansen at Central.

Every two to three weeks, Central rotates their electives to engage students and to help them get their elective credits in a fun way! This rotation found students choosing electives between cooking classes, Simpsons predicting the future, and Pokemon, and if students needed any support in Reading and Math, that was an option.
The pictures above are from our cooking class. The smells coming out of their room in the afternoon have been delicious! Students are learning basic meal prep and how to use certain utensils for different types of meals. The best part from the kid's perspective is getting to try all of the food!
