Due to AMS construction Monday, there will be no community summer meals. ESY, Summer School, and Guidance Center students will have meals delivered to classrooms. Guidance and HS credit recovery students must enter at Central’s 6th St. entrance—6th street AMS entrance is closed.

From founding the TopDog Drill Team to leading Purple Ribbon Week, Janet’s legacy is one of unity, pride, and love for students. Whether as a ParaEducator, school secretary, or community leader, she’s touched countless lives with her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering positivity.
As she steps into retirement, Janet leaves us with this powerful reminder:

📣 After 38 amazing years, Coach Jim Smith is retiring! 🎉
A proud AHS alum, Coach Smith dedicated his life to teaching, coaching, and shaping young lives with grit, heart, and passion. From Woodworking and Tech Ed to 40 years on the football field—27 as Head Coach—he's done it all. He also coached track, baseball, golf, and refereed basketball for 43 years!
Coach always said, “I had the best job in Atchison,” and it’s clear he meant it. His legacy is one of commitment, community, and care.
As he heads into retirement (and probably straight to the golf course ⛳), we thank him for everything he’s given to our students, school, and town.
