AMS Book Club Penny War Is Major Success

by Bob Neidinger

May 09, 2008

For National Library Week, April 14-19, students from the AMS Book Club held a fundraiser called Bestow Books and Bucks @ Your Library earning a "heavy" $348, $277 in pennies. AMS students were challenged to bring change or books to donate to the library and they would earn points for their class. The class with the highest points would earn music at lunchtime for the week. Nickels were worth 5 points, dimes were worth 10 points, and so on. Pennies were worth minus ten points and 27,700 were dumped in opponents' containers. The AMS Book Club and Mrs. Coronado would like to thank everyone who participated and congratulations to the 7th graders who won the contest.
